Video Link: Create Audio Recordings on Mac
Create the recording (in M4A format)
1. Open “QuickTime Player” from your Applications Folder
2. Click “File” > “New Audio Recording”
3. Record your Audio and press stop when done
4. Click “File” > “Export As” > “Audio Only”
5. Name the file and note the file location. It should default to your Documents folder.
6. Click “Save”
7. OPTIONAL: Open Finder and navigate to your file. (A quick link to Documents is on the left bar)
*Note the file is saved as M4A. This needs to be submitted in MP3 format to Collegeboard. Follow the next steps to convert this file to MP3 format.
Convert a M4A file to MP3 using the Music app
1. Open the Music app from your Dock or Applications folder
2. Click “Music” > “Settings” (on the top bar)
3. Click the “Files” Tab
4. Click the “Import Settings” button
5. Change the Import Using: to “MP3 Encoder” and click “OK”
6. Click “OK” to exit Settings
7. Import your audio recording, click “File” > “Import”
8. Navigate to your file, Click the file, and click “Open” (or double click the file)
9. Click “Recently Added” in the left bar
10. Click to highlight your Audio Recording
11. On the top bar, click “File” > “Convert” > “Create MP3 Version”
12. Right Click your Audio Recording
13. Click “Show in Finder”
14. You will see an M4A and MP3 version of your recording.
15. Submit the MP3 version for your AP Test. If desired, you can copy the file to another location on your Mac to make it easier to find later.
